Paa (2009). Wit in Bollywood

R. Balki has done it again. He has rescued his film with the usage of wit, and by casting Amitabh Bachchan. What. An. Actor.

Why I would continue watch movies directed by Balki? The men play their age. The women play intelligent characters, and get to speak the best lines. In Paa, watch Vidya speak to the lady in the park who enquires about her son.

What Balki now needs is a good editor. One who has the freedom to go snip, snip, and snip - in order to cut the flab. Less dramatic endings in his movies would also be nice.

Edited to add: After hearing comments from non-watchers, I must emphasise that 'Paa' is not a tearjerker. Far from it. Watch it, and then form your opinion.

You did watch the delightful Cheeni Kum, didn’t you?

Right on!
From Cheeni Kum to Paa, the dramatization increased. I do hope it is not something that will progressively increase as he does more movies. It would be a pity to lose a movie maker who thinks original and casts superbly to the folly of over-dramatization.

Phoenix, the hitch would be if he is overplaying the drama on purpose, since everything else is original! :) He doesn't even have a regular song and dance routine in his films!
