Cruis€ control & $RK dreams

What I admire about these two actors is their consistent ability to make many ordinary movies make money, and star in some extraordinary movies. I was of the impression that I have watched atleast 90% of the movies that star either of them, but IMDb tells me this is not the case. I certainly didn’t expect SRK to be the narrator in so many recent movies!

The movie released couple of days ago is yet to be watched (and the reviews are unflattering), and to prevent myself from feeling despondent, I am on a trip down memory lane recollecting what has made these men tick over the years.

Chak De! India (2007)
The scene where Kabir Khan (SRK) tells his team of girls, “…tumhara match is mulk ke un sab logon se hai jo yeh sochte hain ki ladkiyan ladko jitna accha khel nahin sakti … ladko jitnein acche faisle nahin le sakti.”

Whistle-worthy. Particularly because the dialogue refers to all skeptical people, irrespective of gender.

Dil Se (1998)
The scene where he tells Meghna (Manisha Koirala) that he hates her eyes the most, and then rates her eyes as the thing he loves the most - while giving the same reason for loving and hating them. I don’t recollect the dialogue fully, and if you do, please leave a comment. Directing me to websites with scripts of Hindi movies would be greatly appreciated.

Mission: Impossible (1996)
Ethan Hunt (Cruise) getting hold of the tear drop just before it splashes onto the ground. Watch parts of the sequence in the trailer here. This single sequence ensured that this remained my wallpaper for a long time.

Swades (2004)
The scene where the boy goes, “Paani lo paani … pachees paise ka ek glass”, Mohan Bhargav (SRK) buys one glass, gives him a Rs. 5 coin, and then wipes his tear away. Watch the scene here.

The Firm (1993)
The sight of a handsome young man running at top speed is enticing, even when you are 11 years old and have gone to watch the 9 p.m. show of Jurassic Park. Years later, I read the book and watched the movie. I am unable to fetch the scene with him running down the corridor, but watch the trailer here.

Sigh.
